A mother’s story about expectations, reality and the period of adaptation to the new role as a mother
This book – Journey Through Motherhood – started as a diary when I felt it was too much and needed to come out. When I felt the need to talk to someone, but I couldn’t reveal myself to anyone. When the things I was thinking and feeling couldn’t be said out loud.
The link between the mother’s depression, her behavior and the impact on the child’s development is complex, the effects can be seen in the long term, not just in childhood.
But even if she hasn’t experienced postpartum depression, at some point, every mother will find herself on one of these pages.
Because there are questions that inevitably arise:
What is bothering the baby?
Did the baby eat enough?
Did I do something wrong?
Am I a good enough mother?
They won’t find directions to follow, but they will be able to mirror themselves in my story. And the close ones, husbands/parents/acquaintances will ask themselves question like: What if my wife/daughter/friend is in this situation?
What can mothers find in this book, Journal of Motherhood?
• Normalization of the experiences of the postpartum period
• Courage to ask for help and talk about how I feel
• The feeling that they are not alone in this journey, titled by me Mommy
• A therapeutic story, one to bring healing to the wounds left hidden under the rug, wounds that are still open
• The fact that there is a light at the end of the tunnel, sometimes even a sun.
You are not a mother, why read this book Journey Through Motherhood?
• To practice empathy by trying to increase the life of a mother at the beginning of the journey and even of a depressed mother
• To see that depression is not a weakness, nor guilt
• To realize how much a smile, a kind word or the absence of a word matters, when you disagree with the new mother
• To discover that part of motherhood that is neither pleasant nor talked about
• To show mothers that they are not alone on this beautiful but challenging road.
– A book full of emotions. An honest book, from which you have something to learn.
You can easily give it as a gift. You don’t need a specific moment to give it.
You don’t have to wait until a loved one is pregnant to give it as a gift.
A book that I recommend to be read by husbands, friends and people who want to truly be with mothers, especially in the first two years of the child’s life. –
